Politeness Analysis of Imperative Speech in the Dialogue of the Movie Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah

Abstract

This research aims to know the form of imperative speech politeness and the function of imperative speech politeness in the dialog of Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah movie. This research uses descriptive qualitative research, analyzing the form and function of imperative speech using the simak catat technique. The result of this research shows that the form and function of the politeness of imperative speech in the dialog of Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah movie amounted to 39 data which can be classified into several types including, imperative speech which states persuasion there is 1 data; command speech there is 5 data; prohibition speech 5 data; invitation speech 7 data; request speech there is 13 data; permission speech there is 5 data; and utterance speech there is 3 data. The application of imperative speech politeness in the dialogue of the film can be characterized by the words please, please, should, come, and please. However, there are some utterances that sound unmannerly if the utterance is spoken directly.
